Mission Statement

The sound management of our area's natural resources on behalf of the community and the Wood County Park District.

The Stewardship Department coordinates propagation and planting for park lands. This may involve seed collecting and cleaning, plant cultivation, transplanting, maintenance, and so forth. Many of the gardens in the parks and around Park District facilities have vegetation grown by the Stewardship Department in their greenhouse (to be located in Reuthinger Preserve in spring 2008) and planted and maintained by the department and its many wonderful volunteers.

Vermicomposting program

An important part of Stewardship is the Native Plant Project to be housed at Reuthinger Preserve in spring 2008.

Thank you to the Friends of Wood County Parks (FWCP) for their fund raising efforts and resulting donation, which purchased the new Park District greenhouse located at Reuthinger Preserve in Perrysburg Township.
There will be many educational and volunteer opportunities for schools and community organizations at the new location.
