Paddle the Pond at W.W. Knight Nature PreserveThe Wood County Park District offers canoeing and kayaking programs and opportunities.

Every Monday in summer, visit the W.W. Knight Nature Preserve for Paddle the Pond. This is a free paddle experience provided from 4:00 – 7:30 pm. Certified instructors are on-hand to provide a brief safety lesson. All gear is provided. The last Monday of the month, kayaks are available as well as the canoes.

Ages: 12 years of age and older to paddle a kayak and 4 years of age or older to ride in a canoe.

Additional Safety and Skills classes are taught for both Canoe and Kayak. Our certified instructors lead these courses.

Group reservations only with a six watercraft minimum – (combination of kayaks and canoes).

Lifejackets are not available for infants, please bring your own.  All children under 18 must be with an adult or must have a consent form completed and signed by a guardian.

In the event of extreme weather, trips may be cancelled.   In the event of cancellation due to weather (or water level), you may reschedule your trip.  If you cannot reschedule your trip, a refund will be issued.

Holds 2-3 people with a maximum of 650 lbs.

Transportation provided to Grand Rapids launch site.

$15.00 Per Kayak

Holds 1 person with a maximum of 250 lbs.

Please reserve by calling (419) 353-1897. The deadline for reserving canoes/kayaks is 12:00 NOON Thursday before the weekend you would like to use the canoes/kayaks so we may adjust staff schedules. We will need to know the birthdays of all participants, so please have that handy when calling in a reservation.
