Memorial Bench Program: Terms Request Form
Memorial Bench Terms
With a gift of $3,000 (or more) to the Friends of the Wood County Parks Memorial Bench program, a Memorial Bench with a personalized plaque is placed at a park agreed upon by donor and park staff based on space availability. The gift amount covers the cost of the bench, installation, and a personalized plaque. The Friends of the Wood County Parks are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
The donor may request a specific park for their Memorial Bench to be placed. The exact location within the park will be determined by park staff based on availability and needs of the park. An existing non-memorial bench location can also be upgraded to a Memorial Bench site.
(Please Note: Some parks are at capacity and are no longer accepting additional benches, the Park District will make the final determination on the Memorial Bench location).
Memorial Bench Design
The design of Memorial Benches is determined by the Wood County Park District. Bench designs may differ from expected based on park planning and/or supply availability.
New Memorial Benches and plaques are installed between April – October based on product & material availability.
Bench Donation Term
The guaranteed term of a Memorial Bench is 5 years. Within this time, the Wood County Park District will replace the bench in the event of damage at no cost to the donor. The Park District reserves the right to relocate a bench, if required, for future development, park activities, or easement needs.
A personalized plaque will be placed on each Memorial Bench. The donor may select the verbiage based on the number of characters in the allotted space. Wood County Park District reserves the right to reject, modify, and approve the final language.
Once the Memorial Bench is installed, the donor will receive notification of the bench placement with details indicating the location of the bench.
The placement of any mementos (i.e., wreaths, flowers, vases, statues, etc.) in the vicinity of the Memorial Bench is prohibited.
